How do I show the data values on my bar or column graph?

You can show the data values in your bar or column graph by following these steps:

1. Add another column to the worksheet and copy the y data to this new column.

2. Right-click on the new column heading and select Set As:Label.

3. Activate the graph window and double-click on the layer icon in the top-left corner of the window.

In Origin 7.5 and 8, this opens the Plot Setup dialog box.
In Origin 7.0, this opens the Layer dialog box.

4. Add the new label column to the graph layer using the Plot Setup or Layer dialog box.

In the Origin 7.5 and 8 Plot Setup dialog box, in the lower panel that shows the data currently in the layer, select the bar or column data plot. Then in the middle panel, select the "L" check box next to the listing for the new worksheet data label column you created. Then click the Replace button.
The following picture illustrates this:

In the Origin 7.0 Layer dialog box, select the new worksheet data label column from the Available Data list and then click the right arrow button to add this column to the Layer Contents list.
The following picture illustrates this:

This will place labels at the x,y values corresponding to each bar or column. You can then double-click on a data label in the graph to open the Label tab of the Plot Details dialog box. You can now make changes such as font, size, color, x and y offset from the raw x,y values etc. as shown in picture below.
