JCAMP-DX:
(*.DX, *.DX1, *.JDX, *.JCM)
Origin 8.1 now supports importing the JCAMP-DX (*.DX, *.DX1, *JDX, *.JCM) data format. This data format was originally designed to store infrared spectrum (IR) data, but it is now used used as a container for chemical structure, numclear magnetic resonance (NMR), mass spectrometry (MS), and ion mobility spectrometry (IMS) data, among others.
When importing into Origin, the file information for the selected JCAMP-DX data file is displayed in the import dialog. Upon import, you can quickly review the profile of each infrared, NMR, or other spectrum by enabling the Add Sparklines1 option.
Origin's JCAMP-DX import routine imports the data and its associated metadata. The imported metadata is placed into user-defined parameter rows in the worksheet column header. These can then be utilized when analyzing and graphing your data. |

After importing your JCAMP-DX data you can view the metadata (header information from the data file) in the Workbook Organizer. The paramaters that get imported into the Organizer can be utilized in annotating your graph, or even performing calculations. |
What is JCAMP?
JCAMP stands for the Joint Committee on Atomic and Molecular Physical Data. JCAMP is the organization originally responsible for the development and support of the JCAMP-DX data format standard. That task is now the responsibility of the Internation Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC), and more specifically its Subcommittee on Electronic Data Standards, or SEDS. |
