Built-In Fitting Functions
|
|
Origin 8 offers close to 200 built-in fitting functions. For each built-in function, Origin 8 provides default parameter initialization values, which means that, if not instructed to do otherwise, Origin will automatically set the initial values for the parameters when you choose to fit your dataset with one of these functions.
The functions are organized into several categories, with some functions appearing in more than one category. Additionally, categories are grouped by functional form and by scientific application. There is also a pre-defined group (initially empty) in which you can add your own functions and organize them (you may also use this group to reorganize built-in Origin functions).
The categories (bulleted) and groups of categories (set-off by horizontal lines) are listed below:
- Origin Basic Functions -- the 21 most frequently used fitting functions in Origin 8.
The By Form group -- organizes all functions into categories by the their mathematical forms.
- Exponential
- Growth/Sigmoidal
- Hyperbola
- Logarithm
- Peak Functions
- Polynomial
- Power
- Rational
- Waveform
- Surface Fitting (OriginPro)
- PFW (OriginPro)
- Baseline (OriginPro)
The By Field group -- organizes a subset of all functions into categories by the disciplines in which they are used.
- Chromatography
- Electrophysiology
- Pharmacology
- Spectroscopy
- Statistics
The User Defined group -- (initially empty) allows the user to create their own categories in which to store existing or user-defined functions. |
